A facebook community with high performance has 5.2% higher organic reach among the consumers when compared to a Facebook page says an article from Adespresso by hootsuite. It is no surprise, there is higher trust factor attached with recommendations from peers and friends leading to higher conversations.

As a moderator of a 1000 member home baking community, here are tips how to keep the group highly engaged and vibrant.

  1. Introduce the new joinee but make it fun and educative.

To address the first problem, there are people who join but don’t interact, as a moderator i would ensure that i introduce each person that joins the group and ask them to talk about his or her favourite cake recipe. This would not only help break the ice, it would be a great initiative to let the community know about the new persons expertise. It will boost the new joinees confidence allow him to take the opportunity be the star of the day in the group.

2) Create weekly contest among the community members

A healthy competition is a great way to stay progressive and learned. As a moderator hosting weekly contest with an engaging theme will keep the community members feel challenged and this will keep them at the edge of their seats. Gifting the winners with coupons and orders will keep the community members hooked to the competition. As a moderator I would make sure the the community members post their final pictures on facebook and tag the group to foster more engagement.

3) Bake with the Influencer live

Influencer marketing is a great way to keep the audience engaged, because they have high niche knowledge and they keep themselves updated with current trends. Picking out a community member to be a part of Facebook live with an influencer will gain more traction to the community and increase in cross community members. It's a win win. As a moderator I invite Shivesh for a facebook live and one of the community member, randomly picked (allowing fair chance for everybody is important to keep the competition healthy) can interact and bake along in the live.

4) Monthly fusion baking session

As a moderator I would pick out key ingredients to bake for the community and ask them to be as innovative as possible and share the final picture in the group. Community member with the best creation and presentation will get special prices. This will be conducted on a monthly basis so its not too much on the community members.

5) Offers on baking essentials — amazon voucher.

Providing the community members with amazon voucher for bake essentials once they join the community. This will help the community grow and more people would want to be a part if the community because who doesn't love slashed prices and offers!?This will promote word of mouth for the community.

7) Bake orders

As a moderator, I will share local bake orders in the community and encourage the community members to share information about bake orders in and around their geography this will help to create a community bonding and help each others business grow as well.

8) Initiate and moderate Tips Tuesday

As the moderator i would ask each person to share their baking tips in the group for everyone to learn and be informed about. Making use of the #TipsTuesday once a month will be a progressive learning experience for the community and its members

9) Host community meetings.

If the group is location specific, i would host community meetings with the tops bakers from the city to help the community grow and keep each other learned and informed. Such events will pave way to multiple future opportunities for the entire facebook community with respect to growth.
